LINDT, the premium chocolate and confectionery company, founded in 1845, started as a small confectionery shop in the old town of Zürich that popularised across the globe and is best known for its classic chocolate truffles and chocolate bars, also celebrates its sterling Swiss heritage.

To celebrate our Swiss heritage and in commemoration of Swiss National day, the two eclectic Swiss brands came together for an exclusive tailor-made event, hosted by LINDT Master Chocolatier, Matthew Müller and Swissotel Al Ghurair’s passionate pastry chef, Chef Swapnal, as the participants learned the nuances of crafting the Swissôtel Chocolate Cake. Created especially for Swissôtel, the recipe uses gluten-free, premium ingredients of hazelnut and almond flour, that is gently baked into a rich,  silky and smooth indulgent cake.

Chef Matthew, an avid traveler, is the LINDT Master Chocolatier for the Middle East, Africa and Indian Subcontinent Region, and has been associated with the brand for over eight years. He uses  classic and simple techniques and is a passionate LINDT brand ambassador. With years of culinary experience, he started off working in world-class hotels and award-winning restaurants, including celebrity Chef Jamie Oliver’s famous restaurant in London, Fifteen; Chef Matthew has polished and perfected his many skills, with a true passion for the art of chocolate.

Leading the participants through the art of chocolate, Chef Matthew and Chef Swapnali from Swissôtel Al Ghurair conducted an exhilarating Masterclass for 60 minutes, showcasing the method of whisking, chocolate folding, and many more tips and tricks of the pastry kitchen.
