The beautiful and hugely popular Constance Belle Mare Plage, Mauritius with ‘Constance Stay Safe’ safety measures in place is ready to welcome guests back and ensure they have the best possible holiday experience in an upgraded resort.

The Covid-pause gave Constance Hotels and Resorts the opportunity to complete major improvements with the aim of offering guests a superior experience.

The hotel took advantage of the closure to undergo extensive renovations, while knowing that no guest would be disturbed. One of the biggest projects was the full revamp of the main restaurant and heart of the resort, La Citronelle. With live cooking areas, dedicated boulangerie-patisserie, a bistrot corner and state-of-the-art hot and cold buffet, the restaurant is now the perfect place to experience and share epicurean moments.

The stunning metamorphosis of the restaurant took six months and cost approximately 2.5 million euros. The buffet is more appetizing than ever, allowing food theatre to be performed with different live cooking stations. Sit up kitchen stations have also been created in various locations within the restaurant, where guests can choose their ingredients, watch the chefs prepare their food and interact with them.

The General Manager of the resort, Gert Puchtler, commented: “Our lifestyle restaurant, La Citronelle, is complimented by just the right ambiance, superb food, excellent service, atmospheric music and fine beverages. We wanted it to be more creative and interactive, offering one of the most extensive, high-quality buffets on the island.”

“The interior design comes to life with a refreshing décor and new ceramic porcelain stoneware tiles. We are the first restaurant in Mauritius to have a gourmet glass box – a walk-in cold kitchen offering everything from fresh juices, cold cuts to appetizers, salads, smoked meat and fish. These new features at the restaurant will undeniably elevate our customers’ experience,” he added.

Another highlight at Constance Belle Mare Plage is the recently restyled rooms. The 104 prestige rooms have undergone a major refurbishment with a budget of approximately 6.5 million euros. A new ambiance with a simple and elegant decor brings freshness to the global concept of the design with some orange touches to lift the room. The bedside tables and the suspended light introduce some Asian inspiration while the other bedside shelf and the sofa give a contemporary nod to its European heritage.

Managed in stages, these works complete a full renovation programme in perfect timing for the re-opening to international travellers. Guests can now look forward to even more enriching experiences in this family-favourite resort.

New team in the kitchen

During the Covid pause, Chef Nicolas Baubé took over the reins of the cuisines of Constance Belle Mare Plage as the new Executive Chef. While, the Blue Penny Cellar welcomed a new French Chef as well in its kitchen; Chef Florian Rocchietta.
