In recent months, Paramount Hotel Dubai has been in the spotlight for its blockbuster sustainability efforts, blending Hollywood glamour with innovative eco-conscious practices. Leading the charge in luxury hospitality in Dubai, the hotel has made major strides toward sustainability and achieving a zero-carbon footprint.
Pascal Eggerstedt, General Manager of Paramount Hotel Dubai, stated, “We are delighted to receive this accreditation from the DET for meeting all the 5-star hotel sustainability requirements. This recognition is a testament to our efforts over the past years and reflects our commitment to sustainability practices from both the hotel and our owning company, DAMAC. We extend our gratitude to the DET for their invaluable partnership, support, and guidance. We remain fully committed to advancing our sustainability agenda and pioneering eco-friendly practices in the hospitality sector”.
Key sustainability initiatives include the complete elimination of single-use plastic bottles from guest rooms, meeting spaces, and all food and beverage outlets, saving several thousand tons of plastic bottles annually.
An on-site water bottling and purification system has been invested in and implemented, producing safe and purified water packaged in branded, reusable glass bottles. The water is hygienically processed and meets stringent local authorities’ standards for safe consumption, significantly reducing plastic waste.
Additionally, disposable plastic amenity bottles have been replaced with dispensers in all 823 guest rooms and suites, preserving the luxury hospitality standards while minimizing waste. The hotel has also implemented garbage waste compaction, reducing waste volume by 50% and achieving significant energy conservations.
This is just the beginning of the hotel’s sustainable journey, with a host of initiatives in the pipeline, including food waste projects in collaboration with local authorities and enhanced waste management practices focusing on improved waste segregation and recycling.
Dean Rossilli, the Senior Vice President of DAMAC Hospitality commented; “This is a proud moment for both Paramount Hotels and DAMAC Hospitality as we lead the way towards a more sustainable luxury lifestyle in hospitality. These initiatives will create a significant footprint in the hotel industry, and I would like to congratulate the team at Paramount Hotel Dubai for achieving such a great milestone with the support of DET. These efforts support our vision to achieving a zero-carbon footprint and redefining sustainability in the art of luxury hospitality. Our journey toward a greener future has only just begun.
