Shangri-La Paris launches Maison Roland – A new garden restaurant that reimagines the Parisian Bistro

Opened on 7th May, Shangri-La Paris launches Maison Roland, a new restaurant set within the hotel’s private garden and inspired by the building’s former resident, Prince Roland Bonaparte. This new Paris address offers classic French cuisine served in a relaxed and elegant setting.

Named in honour of the prince whose private residence has become one of Paris’s most celebrated luxury hotels, Maison Roland draws inspiration from the spirit of a traditional Parisian bistro — informal, welcoming, and rooted in timeless recipes. Designed as a place to linger, it blends indoor and outdoor dining, creating a calm retreat in the heart of the city.

Effortlessly beautiful in its simplicity, the dining room flows seamlessly onto the sun-drenched terrace and into the garden beyond. Light glides across crisp white tablecloths, while Gien porcelain and silverware elevate the table setting, evoking the timeless charm of traditional Parisian dining.

The menu focuses on familiar French dishes, prepared with care and quality produce. Starters include devilled eggs with salmon roe, sardine rillettes, country-style terrine with pistachios, tomato gazpacho, and frisée salad and mizuna salad with lardons and soft‑boiled egg. Brittany oysters and a selection of caviars are also available.

Main courses champion well‑loved classics, such as sole grenobloise, beef hanger steak with peppercorn sauce, beef tartare, and grilled sea bass with herb sauce. Lobster features prominently, served grilled, Thermidor‑style or cold with mayonnaise. Classic sides include green beans with parsley and garlic, mashed potatoes, French fries, or romaine lettuce with wholegrain mustard dressing.

Cheese and desserts continue the classic bistro theme, striking a measured balance between indulgence and tradition: truffled Burgundy cream cheese, signature floating island “Maison Roland”, chocolate mousse, crème caramel with Madagascar vanilla, red berries pavlova to share, and strawberry coupe with frozen yoghurt.

Open Monday to Saturday from 12pm to 10pm, and Sunday evenings from 7pm to 10pm, Maison Roland is positioned as a new local favourite — appealing to Parisians and visitors alike looking for honest cooking, heartfelt service and a stunning garden setting that feels quietly removed from the city beyond.
