Held under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Bodour Al Qasimi, the event celebrates winning sustainability innovations from nearly 1,000 global entries, attracting participation from students, professionals, and organizations worldwide
BEEAH, the region’s sustainability and innovation pioneer, recently hosted the Future Pioneers Award (FPA) ceremony in Sharjah, recognizing outstanding innovations selected from nearly 1,000 submissions from around the world for the 2025–2026 edition. Held under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi, President of the American University of Sharjah, the FPA is one of the UAE’s leading grassroots platforms with international impact, rewarding changemakers from around the world for breakthrough ideas that have the potential to reshape the future to be more sustainable.
The award is now in its 14th edition, and entries have increased by a record 400% compared to the previous year, with winning concepts delivering solutions across key sustainability themes, including energy efficiency and conservation, waste reduction, circularity, clean energy production, AI and digital tools for sustainability, and net-zero strategies. It also attracted participants from ten countries: the UAE, France, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Oman, India, Jordan, Morocco, Qatar, Egypt, and Sudan.
Submissions highlighted the groundbreaking sustainability innovations from individuals and groups across schools, universities, government entities, and corporations worldwide. Building on BEEAH’s decade-long legacy of championing innovations, the FPA has evolved into a global platform for spotlighting transformative solutions and fostering knowledge exchange to address critical challenges facing communities worldwide.

In a ceremony at BEEAH Headquarters attended by industry leaders, innovators, educators, and students, Her Highness Sheikha Bodour Al Qasimi awarded the 2025-2026 winners for their pioneering innovations spanning Sustainability Initiative, Prototype, Documentary, and Solution. The current cycle honored a total of 12 winning entries across the participating categories of Corporate, Schools and Universities, Group, and Individual.
In the Corporate category, Dubai Municipality won first place for its Ehsan prototype that launched AI-enabled smart feeding stations for stray cats, addressing the challenges of animal welfare, sustainability, and public health. Second place was awarded to the Sharjah Electricity, Water, and Gas Authority (SEWA) for demonstrating best-in-class utilities management in operations through material energy savings, smart infrastructure, and low-energy desalination. Fujairah Municipality took third place for its Green Geopolymer Concrete initiative, a zero-cement, low-carbon construction material made from industrial and quarry waste designed for climate resilience in the UAE.

In the Schools and Universities category, Al Mawakeb School in Al Garhoud, Dubai, won first place for a student-led sustainability documentary titled ‘Honor the Chain’, which explores the interconnectedness between everyday actions and the natural world, highlighting human neglect and overconsumption. Applied Technology Schools Ras Al Khaimah took second place for prototype MedSmart Companion, a cost-effective smart health assistant that aids elderly patients in managing medications and monitoring basic health vitals. Third place was awarded to Abu Dhabi University’s Academic Success Center for their student-led initiative Sustainability and Environmental Academic Circle, which promotes environmental awareness on campus through hands-on activities and games.
In the Group category, first place was awarded to the ECOACT initiative, a scalable data-driven system that translates environmental monitoring into infrastructure decisions for energy and water savings. Second place was awarded to a patented prototype Suhoola for introducing a water-efficient ablution unit built to sustainability standards and designed for modern shared facilities. AgriHab, an AI-driven agricultural solution, took third place for creating a fully controlled, climate-independent growing environment that solves the unpredictability of traditional farming.
In the Individual category, first place was awarded to Khaled Elnems, an industrial design innovator, for his solution E-Rain Gate that modernizes urban drainage through an automated, data-driven stormwater inlet system. Khalsa Hamed Al-Bahri, a PhD student at Sultan Qaboos University in Oman, took second place for her VR-LAB prototype, a virtual and interactive physics laboratory designed to simulate electrical experiments in a digital learning environment. AlDhabi AlMheiri, the youngest Emirati entrepreneur and publisher, came in third place for her prolific sustainability advocacy among youth through education, publishing, technology, and community action.
The top three winners in each category received financial rewards to advance and scale their innovations, chosen by the judging panel of industry experts. The judges included Mourad Ben Ayed, Adjunct Professor at the Department of Management, Strategy and Entrepreneurship at the American University of Sharjah; Dimah Hamdan, Senior Digital Transformation Planning Specialist at the Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority; and Amel Ismail, Senior Specialist Digital Enabler at the Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority. From BEEAH’s side, Dr. Hashem Stietiya, Director – Sustainability; Pablo Arribere Jimenez, Executive Director – Operational Excellence and Innovation; Rahma Alshamsi, Director – Portfolio and Ventures; and Alya Al Hammadi and Eman AlMheiri, members of the award organizing team from the Executive Development Office, also served as judges.
Highlighting the significance of the innovations, Hind Al Huwaidi said: “The creativity and commitment demonstrated by this year’s participants are truly inspiring. Their innovations addressed some of the most urgent environmental challenges with practical, impactful solutions. Our expert judges reviewed a record number of entries from around the world through a rigorous evaluation process, reflecting the award’s growing reach and reputation. Among the highlights of the ceremony were a keynote by His Excellency Sheikh Fahim bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Department of Government Relations in Sharjah, who shared his entrepreneurial journey inspired by years of marine advocacy, and a talk by Amna Al Hammadi, Emirati computer scientist and Abu Dhabi Hub Lead of AI for Good’s Young AI Leaders Community, who drew from her own experience to spotlight the UAE’s role in empowering young talent through opportunities for growth and leadership.
Open to individuals, groups, corporations, and public sector organizations from across the globe, the FPA invites innovations from a range of demographics – from school and university communities to industry professionals – making the award a platform for diverse ideas and fresh perspectives. For over a decade, BEEAH has championed grassroots environmental action through competitions, awards, and outreach initiatives. Through the Academy of Sustainability, BEEAH engages hundreds of schools annually across the UAE, collaborating with thousands of teachers and reaching nearly 300,000 students.
